The problem

The programme exists so that no family in Curaçao misses paediatric care because of transport, and so parents can stay close to children admitted to the Curaçao Medical Center. That promise was being kept by phone, WhatsApp and memory: requests, schedule changes and driver confirmations lived in fragments, with no single reliable view of who was being picked up, when, and by whom.

Approach

We designed around the two people under real pressure — the parent requesting a ride and the dispatcher on a 9-to-5 support window. Intake asks only what the trip actually needs (passenger count up to nine, wheelchair or medical equipment, car seats, return leg), then hands the dispatcher a structured, schedulable request instead of a message thread.

What we built

  • Family accounts with sign-up, ride requests and multi-trip scheduling
  • Dispatch console for assignment, schedule changes, late pickups and cancellations
  • Trip records covering passengers, accessibility needs and return legs
  • Role-based access for families, staff, dispatchers and drivers
  • Structured FAQ and support surface covering scheduling, safety and service area
  • Sponsor recognition for Curoil, MCB Bank, Baoase Luxury Resort and Curaçao Medical Center

Outcome

One shared, auditable system behind every trip: families book instead of calling around, dispatch works from a single queue, and the programme can report on the rides it delivers.
